When you think of quick dining in England, What Meal Immediately comes to mind?
Although several dishes can be considered "Traditional British Fast Food" Can any meal be considered more British than Fish & Chips? This Hearty Meal holds the peculiarity that it's usually "Taken away" to eat. Part of the Charm of "Fish & Chips" involves its traditional wrapper: Newspaper inserted into a Brown paper bag.
Fried Fish developed separately from "Chips". The French invented Chips (fried potato strips) but fried fish originated in Northern England. The British prefer to use Cod. Other whitefish including Haddock,Pollock, may be substituted.
During the Industrial Revolution, Small "Fish Bars" sprang up in the streets and alleys of London for over-the-counter purchases of "Fish & Chips" to help nourish the workforce. The Great British Fish & Chips that were made quickly spread throughout the country and across many borders of countries and class barriers and now many generations also.

In east Anglia you can get Cod,Pollock , Place, Haddock, Rock eel,
